Saving Money Mommy's Tuesday Tip- Collecting Coupons

My tip for today is to collect as many coupons as you can. I get 4 Sunday papers delivered to my house. I have negotiated with two different newspapers to get the best price. I am saving more money this way than buying papers at the box or store on Sunday. I also keep my eye open when walking through any store to collect blinkies (the coupons in the little red boxes attached to the shelf), tearpads (a pad of coupons attached to the shelf), peelies (coupons stuck on boxes- It is rude to peel these off when not buying the item), coupon books, Try Me Free forms and rebate forms. You never know when you need a coupon and it is better to have them than not. You can always trade coupons on the internet or send expired coupons to an overseas family (I will explain that in a future post).

Here is an example of how collecting coupons and holding them until a sale can pay off. A couple of months ago I found a tearpad with $.55 off one can of Blatter Blaster pancake & waffle batter. I remember that these go on BOGO every once in awhile so I took two. They happened to be BOGO this week at Publix. I will get these for $1.95 each instead of their regular price of $4.99.

You will definitely save money with coupons. The key to saving the most money is to use the coupons at the right time and buy as many items as you can. Take my tip from a couple of weeks ago and stockpile these items if you can. If the item has an expiration date, make sure you don't buy more of the item than you will use before the date expires. If you can get a great deal, but can't use all of the items, donate some items. I always give items to friends, charities and churches. I also send boxes to the military overseas. I just can't pass up a good deal when I see one. :)

Go out today and get a great deal!
