Tips for Saving Money

Today I'm going to give you some of the things I do to save money.......

1.) USE PRESCRIPTION COUPONS- If you get a new prescription or refill an existing one, always use a coupon. You can find them in circulars or online. By doing this, you can get a gift card to that store. My grocery store Publix accepts competitor coupons. When I get a new prescription, I bring a CVS $25 gift card prescription coupon to the Publix pharmacy and receive a $25 Publix gift card.

2.) BUY SALE ITEMS IN BULK- My pantry is full of pasta, cereal and juice because that is what has been on sale lately. I've been taking advantage of the BOGO (Buy One Get One Free) offers. I really don't have a lot of room to store all this stuff, but I manage. I don't see paying $3.99 for one bottle of juice. When it is on sale, stock up!

3.) PLAN NEXT WEEK'S MENU WITH SALE ITEMS- I don't start planning next week's menu until I read the Publix circular. I plan meals around what's on sale. That saves a lot of money. I rarely ever buy something that is not on sale or if I don't have a coupon.

4.) SIGN UP FOR E-MAIL SUBSCRIPTIONS- Sign up at CVS and Walgreens. They will e-mail valuable coupons to you. Also make sure you have a CVS Extracare Card.

5.) ASK FOR A BETTER DEAL OVER THE PHONE- One day I called my cable company after I noticed a $4.00 increase in my bill and told them I wanted a better rate or I was going to switch to Verizon. It felt like I won the lottery. Not only did they lower my monthly rate by about $12.00, I got HBO and Showtime free for a year. I received a free Wireless Router and Network Card the next day. To top it off, I received a month of free service (cable, phone and internet) too!
I also called the newspaper after receiving the yearly bill for my subscription. I asked them if they could give me a better rate. That call saved us $33.94. The call took about one minute.

These are just a few tips. Keep checking in for more tips on how to save money. Let me know if these work for you. God Bless!
